Why false alarms happen in helium leak testing
Most false alarms come from the environment and the process rather than from real leaks: background helium in the workshop air, temperature drift inside the vacuum chamber, tracer gas left over from the previous cycle, and worn fixture seals. A very sensitive detector will faithfully report all of these as failures unless the system is designed to separate them from the part itself.
How the HC-HLT-800 keeps the alarm rate low
- Dual-chamber isolation: the detection volume is separated from ambient air so workshop helium does not reach the sensor.
- Temperature compensation: the baseline is corrected as the chamber warms, keeping readings stable across a full shift.
- Automatic cycle purge: residual tracer gas is cleared before the next part is loaded.
- Fixture seal verification: the system checks the fixture seal first and reports a sealing problem instead of blaming the part.
